Variable Frequency Resonant Two-Phase Flow Meter is a high-end industrial measuring instrument specifically designed to measure two-phase flows (such as gas-liquid mixtures, oil-water mixtures, or gas-gas mixtures).
The variable-frequency resonant two-phase flow meter employs a resonant design to measure the mixture density of the medium by detecting changes in the resonant frequency. By incorporating the pressure loss resulting from the throttling effect, the total flow rate can be determined.
Since the mixture density of a two-phase fluid depends on the operating densities and phase fractions of the gas and liquid (water or oil) phases, the phase fraction of each component can be derived once their operating densities are known; the corresponding two-phase flow rates are then calculated using the Bernoulli equation.
This flow meter supports the following two measurement modes:
Gas-Liquid and Gas-Gas Modes: For gas-containing mixed fluids, the operating density of the gas phase (with known composition) is calculated using pressure and temperature measurements combined with the PVT equation, while the operating density of the liquid phase is determined using phase fraction information derived from resonant frequency changes.
Oil-Water Mode: For oil-water mixtures with known compositions, phase fraction information obtained from resonant frequency changes is used to determine the mixture density, which in turn allows for the calculation of the individual densities of the two phases.
By combining the mixture density with fluid dynamic calculation models, the liquid-phase mass fraction and average pressure of the mixed medium within the flow meter’s measuring tube are determined. Subsequently, the flow calculation module adjusts the total mass flow rate based on the liquid-phase mass fraction, average pressure, and medium temperature to obtain the final total mass flow rate, from which the individual mass flow rates of the gas and liquid phases are calculated.
