The boiler dual-color liquid level gauge is a measuring instrument that displays the liquid level in boilers and vessels through dual-color light bars.
The observation holes of this water level gauge are aligned along two straight lines in the longitudinal direction of the gauge body, and the middle blind zone is eliminated by a staggered combination of observation holes. The red and green light emitted by the light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are directed toward the observation windows of the gauge body, respectively. In the vapor phase section of the gauge body, the red light travels straight ahead, while the green light is directed at an angle toward the wall and absorbed; meanwhile, in the liquid phase section, due to the refraction of water, the green light travels straight ahead, and the red light is directed obliquely toward the wall and absorbed. Therefore, when viewed straight ahead, it presents a display of steam as red and water as green, or a full-steam red and full-water green display.

Yes. Many industrial-grade boiler dual-color liquid level gauges (or magnetic dual-color level gauges) support optional or external liquid level transmitters. By connecting an external transmitter, the physical liquid level height on-site can be converted into a standard 4-20mA current signal (typically supporting the HART protocol) or a digital signal, which is then transmitted in real-time to a DCS (Distributed Control System) or PLC control room to achieve remote monitoring and automated control.
The dual-color boiler level gauge operates based on the principles of buoyancy and magnetic coupling. As the liquid level in the vessel rises or falls, the float within the gauge’s main chamber moves accordingly.
In the case of magnetic flap-type level gauges, the magnetic float inside the measuring chamber moves with the liquid level; through magnetic coupling, it drives the dual-color flaps on the external display to rotate 180°, thereby indicating the level—the flaps turn from white to red as the level rises and from red to white as it falls.
For magnetically sensitive electronic level gauges, the permanent magnet within the float transmits a signal via magnetic coupling to high-precision electronic sensing elements inside the local display unit; this triggers the corresponding digital circuitry to switch the color of the dual-color LEDs, displaying solid red when empty and solid green when full. A common feature of both display methods is that the interface between the red and green (or red and white) sections indicates the actual liquid level within the vessel.
