This Ethernet-APL Universal Media Converter is designed to seamlessly bridge standard Ethernet networks with Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) and Ethernet-APL infrastructure, enabling long-distance industrial communication with transparent protocol transmission.

The device integrates one standard RJ45 Ethernet port and one IEEE802.3cg-2019 compliant 10BASE-T1L Ethernet-APL interface, allowing bidirectional transparent conversion between conventional Ethernet and SPE/Ethernet-APL networks. It supports both industrial data transmission and PoDL (Power over Data Line) power delivery over a single twisted pair cable with transmission distances up to 1000 meters.

Unlike conventional industrial media converters, this Ethernet-APL Universal Media Converter is specifically optimized for industrial process automation, Ethernet-APL deployment, and Industry 4.0 migration projects. It supports major industrial Ethernet protocols including PROFINET, MODBUS TCP/IP, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, CC-Link IE, and POWERLINK without requiring IP configuration or network topology participation.

As a Single-Pair Ethernet to Standard Ethernet Media Converter: This functions as a physical-layer media converter, enabling transparent, bidirectional data conversion between Single-Pair Ethernet and standard Ethernet. It supports all industrial Ethernet upper-layer protocols—such as PROFINET, MODBUS TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, CC-Link IE, and POWERLINK. During network software topology configuration, the device does not need to be included as a communication node; it can simply be treated as a cable, and as a transparent-mode switch, it requires no IP address.
2. As an Ethernet-APL to Standard Ethernet Media Converter (Functioning as a Single-Port APL Field Switch): This acts as a single-port APL field switch with auxiliary power supply. Its APL port serves as a “Spur” interface, providing point-to-point connectivity for field APL devices (instruments, sensors, actuators, etc.). In this mode, the device operates on 12 VDC (range: 9–15 VDC), supports PoDL power classes A and C, and delivers a PoDL output power of ≥1.1 W at the APL interface. The standard uplink Ethernet port connects to various controllers, switches, PLCs, DCS units, computers, and more. It is highly convenient for commissioning APL devices.
